Carroll Gardens, Infant/Toddler Centre - Our Programs
Math
Mathematics is essential for problem-solving and logical thinking skills. We make use of manipulative materials to help the child gain an understanding of the concepts of numbers, symbols, sequences, operations, and memorization of basic facts.
Sensorial Materials
These enable the child to order, classify, and describe sense experiences such as dimension, color, texture, sound, and sight. Through creative motions, the children will be increasing their large motor skills.
Language - French/Spanish (optional)
In our language immersion classroom, our teachers use only French/Spanish during the day. Understanding that not all our students will understand everything they say at first, they use a variety of methods to communicate: body language, context clues, gestures, exaggerated facial expressions, expressive intonation, visual aids, and objects to communicate meaning. It is common for the children to communicate with each other in English, however, they will be actively encouraged to use French/Spanish when responding to questions or asking for assistance. The older children in language immersion classrooms often act as natural, unprompted translators for the younger ones. In a very short amount of time, the children begin understanding basic instructions and information delivered in French/Spanish.

Art
Our art time is a hands-on, creative experience where we build 3-D crafts, and paint. The program assists in developing self-esteem and critical thinking abilities. Children have the opportunity to explore a variety of art experiences through numerous mediums.
Movement
Running, jumping, dancing and skipping, are just some of the components of this movement program. Through creative motions, the children will be increasing their large motor skills.
Science
Children are naturally curious! What happens when we mix red and yellow together? What is this live caterpillar going to turn into? How do we make play dough? These are a few questions our preschoolers will explore and learn about through experiments, observation, and hands-on learning.
Music
This class time provides a balanced music program encouraging musical growth, and creativity, and teaching simple musical elements. Fun songs, activities, and movements incorporate memory, rhyming, and sounds.
